Don’t Take Your Self Too Seriously.

I was watching Spike TVJCVD and all the sudden the Slap Chop Infomercial come on. So I was about to channel surf when it started to sound a bit weird.

At 1st I thought there was a technical glitch and than it started sounding like a break dancing video from the late 80s. Than I started laughing, I love it. I just experience the YouTube Riff Phenomena. I just was the Remix Slap Chap infomercial. DJ Porter took the original slap chop infomercial and started playing around with it. And within a short period of time hit got 2 millions hit. I guess the maker of the infomercial decide to jump on something viral. It was a chance they decide to take because I think it funny as hell and great for marketing. I can’t the damn song out of my head.

But back to the brilliance — too many companies freak out when their intellectual property (I am fully aware of how ridiculous it is to use the phrase “intellectual property” when referring to an infomercial) is appropriated on the Internet and made into something even better. All they can see are the copyright issues.

But Square One Entertainment appears to have realized it’s better to work with the Internet instead of against it, and Porter’s dance remix of Vince extolling the virtues of the Slap Chop is set to be a new commercial.

Although this was not the one I was watching. Apparently there are several version of this infomercial. I am completely addicted to the remix. Now I just have to go out and buy a Slap Chop.
