The Pulau Bidong‘s website is very dear and personal to me because I am a former boat person/refugee from Vietnam who had stayed on this island for brief period of time. It is also an island where my baby sister was also buried due to illness and malnutrition.
My mother and brother arrive to Canada on April 8, 1980 – 30 years ago after spending almost a year in a refugee camp. So I when the opportunity to re-design this website, I jumped at the chances to be part of history.
The Pulau Bidong‘s website is a labor of love and I hope to integrate it with Flickrs, Youtube and other web 2.0 social networking sites soon. I hoped this website can be served as a living legacy for all former Vietnamese refugee and boat people. I hoped it can be used a learning tool for future my children and my grand children.
